New Product (across Europe)

What we set out to do:
support a company which previously sold different products per country (for historical reasons) in making the change to a standard product line across Europe.

What happened:
each country agreed that a standard approach would be better, but thought the others should adopt their own - the solution required a mix of consultation to gain commitment and direction to ensure consistency: ultimately no country got exactly what they wanted but all benefitted from quality and cost

 

improvements through high volume production.

What we learnt: democratic consultation has a role but at some point leadership must take over to progress discussion into action - and money is a very powerful ally: it is hard for a print run of 8,000 in one country to compete financially with a print run of 90,000 right across Europe.
